There has never been a conceivable end to all what human beings can do, but honestly speaking, there is still nothing we do better than growing on a consistent basis. This progressive approach, on our part, has already got the world to hit upon some huge milestones, with technology appearing as a major member of the stated group. The reason why technology enjoys such an esteemed stature among people is, by and large, predicated upon its skill-set, which ushered towards a reality that nobody could have ever imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if we look up close for a second, it will become clear how the whole runner was also very much inspired from the way we applied those skills across a real world environment. The latter component was, in fact, what gave the creation a spectrum-wide presence, and as result, initiated a full-blown tech revolution. Of course, this revolution then went on to scale up the human experience through some outright unique avenues, but even after achieving such a monumental feat, technology will somehow continue to produce the right goods. The same has grown increasingly evident over the recent past, and assuming one new fintech-themed development shakes out just like we envision, it will only make that trend bigger and better moving forward.

Persona, a leading unified identity platform, has officially announced a partnership with Paravision to launch an enhanced AI-based age estimation and verification solution. According to certain reports, the stated partnership will combine Paravision’s AI Principles with Persona’s mission to humanize digital identity to form a mix, which in turn, will be complimented through training on extensive sets of data. The overall result enables organizations to leverage the new age estimation technology, along with Persona’s highly flexible, real-time verification flows, to keep users safe and fight fraud, while simultaneously staying compliant with age verification regulations across the globe. Talk about the whole value proposition on a slightly deeper level, we begin from how quickly the solution will be able to verify the end user’s age. You see, boasting a sense of compatibility with simple user selfies, the technology cuts back on usual friction by eliminating the need to collect a government-issued ID. Furthermore, thanks to Persona’s granular data retention and redaction policies configured in Dynamic Flow, it helps companies deliver more seamless, privacy-compliant experiences not only to underage users and their parents and guardians, but also to adults using the exact same platforms and services. Now, given the global regulations in the context of age verification can change time-to-time, it becomes absolutely critical to equip your operations for making that consideration. Fortunately enough, the new solution takes care of that, and it does so through an option to configure, and adapt user-facing flows and automated workflows to meet evolving compliance, user consent, and privacy requirements. Turning such a facility even more significant is the fact that you can conduct the promised configuration even if you don’t have substantial engineering resources at your disposal. Coming back to datasets that are in place for the purpose of training the AI models, they are all manufactured using ethically-sourced information. Assuming someone still has their doubts, though, they must know that the entire data framework will be monitored regularly to remove any chance of bias.

“It is encouraging to see lawmakers pushing platforms, and therefore their identity solution providers, towards greater innovation and responsibility. The mandate is clear: we must balance the delivery of high-assurance, unbiased solutions with safeguarding end user privacy,” said Daniel Lee, Head of Identity Products at Persona. “We believe our industry-leading solution will help our customers better deliver trusted services, while complying with age verification regulations, fighting fraud, and keeping users safe.”

The collaboration between Persona and Paravision provides an interesting follow-up to those recent legislations that have been introduced to protect underage users in this highly-digital world. For instance, US introduced a Kids Online Safety Act to achieve a similar objective. Apart from it, the government also brought an Online Safety Act. These legislations are further joined by US President Biden’s recent Executive Order on the safe, secure, and trustworthy development, and subsequent use of artificial intelligence technologies.

But makes Persona and Paravision the ideal candidates to support such an effort? Well, in the former company’s case, the answer lies in its ability to give businesses the building blocks they need to securely collect, verify, manage, and make decisions about individuals or other businesses. Not just that, the company also provides them automation and orchestration tools to streamline the entire process from end to end. Founded in 2018, Persona has today reached a point where it has a presence in all major industries, including retail, fintech, marketplace, delivery services, real estate and hospitality, HR, edtech, legal services, home and childcare services, and more. The company’s technology is also currently available across more than 200 countries and in 20 different languages.

As for Paravision, it is best known for its industry-leading Vision AI software, which is a trusted ally for security device manufacturers, solution providers, systems integrators, and financial services firms, when it comes to extending frictionless experiences and comprehensive safety and security. The validation for company comes from the fact that it has been a mainstay in NIST’s gold standard Face Recognition Vendor Tests, including 1:1 Verification, 1:N Identification, Face Mask Effects, and Paperless Travel etc.

“The need for reliable, responsible age estimation technology has never been more pressing, particularly in light of the growing concerns around children’s online presence as well as leveraging ethical approaches to AI,” said Joey Pritikin, Chief Product Officer at Paravision. “We are thrilled to be working with Persona to launch a solution that will help ensure the safety and well-being of children and teenagers online, while meeting rigorous ethical standards.”
